There are several hundred colleges that offer Division I, Division II, and NAIA scholarships for men and women track athletes. That means there are thousands of scholarships available for both men and women. Opportunities exist in both outdoor and indoor track and field events.
Don't Forget About Division III
Also, you shouldn't forget about the opportunities to be had in Division III, the National Christian College Athletic Association or NCCAA, and Junior Colleges. Although athletic scholarships may not be available, other forms of financial aid are...especially if you are a good student with a high GPA coming out of high school. These smaller schools offer a great opportunity to truly be a student-athlete and continue playing the sport you love.
Full And Partial Scholarships
Some of the scholarships avaiable are full ride scholarships, and some are partial scholarships. The amount of schohlarship help you will get greatly depends on what level you end up competing at.
Even with all these scholarships available, only a small percentage of high school track and field athletes will participate at the college level. Even if you are a very good high school athlete, the odds are not in you favor! The competition is very high.
