What Is The NAIA

The NAIA stands for the National Association of Intercollegiate Atletics.   NAIA schools can range from small to very large institutions.   Unlike the NCAA, they offer only two levels of basketball competition, Division I and Division II.

The level of basketball played at these schools is very high.  If you have the opportunity to get out and see some NAIA Basketball games being played, you'll quickly see what I mean.  The athletes at these schools are scholarship athletes and most of them could have played for a NCAA school if they had chosen to.

The one key simularity between NAIA and NCAA schools is the recruting process.  If you want to play at a NAIA school and you are not getting the attention of the coaching staff, you have to take the initiative on your own to get on the coach's radar. 

How can you do this?  You can do it by markeing and promoting yourself.  You need to:

1-  Develop Your Basketball Resume

2-  Write A Personal Letter To The Coaches/Colleges You Want To Play For

3-  Mail Your Basketball Resume And Your Personal Letter Out To Coaches

That's it, just this simple three step process can put you miles ahead of your competition.  Most players never take the initiative to contact coaches directly.   If you do take this step and make direct contact (and you have the talent and skill to play at the next level) many of these coaches will respond to you.
