How To Get Recruited For College Football

Have your struggled with the question of how you can get recruited for college football? The chance to play football at the college level is a big opportunity and a big source of pride for most high school players. The real question is, how can you make it happen?

The Five Critical Steps

If you want to play at the next level, it's time to stop wondering how to get recruited for college football, and take some concrete steps toward making it happen. Here are five steps I highly recommend:

1- Develop Your Football Resume

Make sure you are tracking your stats and your major accomplishments on the field. You will need them when you put together your football resume to send out to college football coaches.

2- Start Collecting Some Game Film

When you have a good game or do something special on the field, immediately ask your coach about getting some footage of the game. If coaches start recruiting you to play in college, they will want to see some footage of you in action. Make sure you are prepared in advance.

3- Make A List Of The Schools You Are Interested In

Start working on your list of the schools you are interested in playing for.  Be realistic and match your talent, skills, and size to the right schools and the right level of competition. Not everyone can play Division I football, but that does not mean there are not some other great opportunities out there for you when it comes to recruiting for college football.

4- Attend Some Football Camps

Try and visit as many football camps during the summer as you can. You just never know when your talent and skills turn out to be exactly what the coach running or attending the camp is looking for. Exposure to college coaches is always a good thing.

5- Take Control Of Your Recruitment Process

Don't wait on someone else, or even your high school coach to make sure you get recruited. Take control of your own recruitment by making direct contact with college coaches. Coaches need players and they will be happy to hear from you if they think you can help them and they feel you have what it takes to play for them.

Summary

You now know how to get recruited for college football, the only thing left to do now is to take action and make it happen for yourself. Very few players take any of these steps on their own, so when and if you do, you can have a big edge on your competition. Don't wait until it is too late.
