One thing for sure, womens basketball recruiting is much like the men's recruiting process, it's extremely competitive.  For every roster spot on a women's team at the college level, there are thousands of athletes trying to get the scholarship. 

Making it even more difficult is that for every roster spot available, coaches will typically recruit five to ten candidates to ensure he or she has plenty of choices whey he or she is ready to make the scholarship offer.

1-  Attend Some Games.  Get out and see some games in your area,even if it requires some travel.  To get an advantage in womens basketball recruiting, you need to know what level of college play is right for you.   See some games played at the Division 1 level all the way down to Division 3 or even junior college.  See how you measure up against the competition.

2- Get Started Early.   Don't wait until your senior season to get serious about your recruitment.  Once you decide what level of womens basketball is right for you, start making contact with coaches your sophomore or junior season in high school.

3- Develop A Resume.  To make contact with coaches, you'll need a resume.  This resume should tell the coach everything he or she may want to know about you so they can make a decision whether or not to recruit you. 

4-  Don't Rely On Your Coach.  Many athletes make the mistake of assuming their high school coach is going to take care of their recruitment.  Unfortunately, most of the time they are doing very little or nothing at all to help you.  Don't assume your coach is helping you get recruited only to find out at the end of your senior season he or she has done nothing.
