Are you trying to figure out the high school basketball recruiting system and get recruited to play at the next level?  If so, you need to be aware that you are not alone.  Basketball has become an international sport and there are millions of high school players from around the world now competing for college roster spots.

To get an advantage over your competition, you need to doing everything you can to get noticed and get recruited.  As the old saying goes, "to get different results, you need to do something different".   If you want to stand out from the crowd and get noticed by coaches, here are a few things you should know.

High School Basketball Recruiting - What You Need To Know

1-  Coaches Want Players Who Can Stay Qualified.  Coaches normally recruit from 5 to 10 recruits for each roster spot they have.  If some of them turn out not to be very good students and the coach has doubts about their ability to stay qualified to play by NCAA or NAIA standards, they will probably get crossed off the coach's list.

2- Coaches Want Mentally Tough Players.  Playing at next level requires mental toughness.  When coaches are out doing their high school basketball recruiting, they are looking for players who show they are mentally tough.   Coaches want to lead you in college, not be your babysitter.  You should show them you are mature and mentally tough on the court.

3- Skills And Athleticism.  No matter what level of competition the coach is at, from Division 1 to Division 3, coaches want players who have the right basketball skills, athletic skills, and size to compete at their level of competition.  Unfortunately, basketball skills can sometimes take a back seat to size and athleticism with some coaches.  It's just a reality in today's game.
